Survey Results
To generate an idea regarding the public’s opinion about Carbon Capture and Storage, we conducted a small survey and distributed it among fellow college students. The survey resulted in 52 responses in which the data was collected from. The survey started by asking the students’ personal information (age and college), and then asked their knowledge about the topic before giving them some basic knowledge of the subject. Lastly, they gave their opinion about carbon capture and storage. Interestingly enough, the majority of students who did not know about CCS or had a little knowledge about the subject where non-engineering majors. More than half of the responses approved of using CCS, but almost half would not feel safe if the storage site is close to their hometown.
The following are the questions and its results
Q1: What age group do you belong to?
Q2: What college do you belong to?
Q3: How much do you know about carbon dioxide emissions and its environmental impacts?
Q4: Do you know what carbon capture and storage is?
After the 4th question, the student was given the following explanation about CCS technology:

“Carbon Capture and Storage is defined as 'a technology that can capture carbon dioxide emissions produced from fossil fuels in electricity generation and industrial processes, preventing it from entering the atmosphere.' Some of the risks involved are causing earthquakes, and water contamination due to CO2 leaking. High concentrations of leaked CO2 might as well lead to suffocation and then death in storage sites".
